Row Boats

We went to Centeral Park to go on the row boats, but on our way found a lot of other fun activities. We spent some time at Bethesda Fountain.

There was a man blowing enormous bubbles. It was really cool and Olivia was mezmorized. He was really nice and blew some bubbles for her to pop. She absolutloey loved it!!!

While we were looking at the bubbles Olivia heard some singing, and rushed over to a nearby tunnel in the park and listened to this family sing.

We finally made it to the row boats. As soon as we sat down Olivia started singing "row row row your boat." She really wanted to row the oars so she she sat with her dad and helped row. We had a wonderful morning at Central Park and decided we should try to come as often as possible.

Compliments

Olivia has become very generous with compliments. There isn't a day that goes by where I don't receive sweet compliments from Olivia, her most frequent compliment toward me is "I like your hair mommy." I thought Olivia reserved her compliments for her family and friends, but last Sunday I realized that she is also willing to compliment people she doesn't really know. We had some people over to our house and one of the ladies was wearing a dress with a belt that tied in a bow in the back. On six different occasion Olivia went up to this lady and said "I like your apron" while stroking her dress. It was really sweet.

Long Beach, Long Island

We took the train to Long Beach out on Long Island. Olivia enjoyed the train ride, her favorite part was having the conductor come through and punch tickets. Olivia was in charge of presenting our tickets to the conductor...after he left she kept calling for the conductor to come back.

As soon as we walked off the boardwalk and onto the sand Olivia fell to her knees and started running her fingers through the sand. She could have stayed right there feeling the sand with her fingers the whole day.

As we walked to our beach umbrella a lifegaurd came over to Olivia and told her that she won the best dressed award at the beach. As we continued our walk to the umbrella Olivia kept laughing and saying the sand was slippery-she was having a little bit of a hard time keeping her balance.

We took a brief dip in the water, but Olivia's focus was to get back to the beach umbrella and build sand castles.
We built a number of sandcastles, buried our feet and filled the sand molds we brought...Olivia has a blast. She loved the sand so much she couldn't resist the temptation to eat some.

We had such a fun day at the beach, we are excited to find another beach to explore.
